Tirdziņš/Christmas Market

This week we will continue to work on making ornaments to sell at the Christmas Market on December 3rd. Each class will have an opportunity to make ornaments this week. Thank you to Sandra Koch for leading this project. Attached you will find the adjusted schedule.


Ziemassvētku Eglīte/Christmas Play

It's hard to believe that it's already time to plan our Christmas event. We will have a parent meeting this Sunday after school in zaļā zāle to go over the play, costumes, set design, hall decorations and of course dinner. We need every parent's help to make this a success! Thank you!


Latvijas Valsts Svētku Svinības

Although we won't be participating in the official Latvian Independence Day event, we will have our own celebration! We ask that all students, teachers and parents wear Latvian colors on November 19th. We will have a pizza party and our own fun event. Paldies!

Latvian Song and Dance Festival:

The Toronto dance committee has reached out to see what our interest is in performing at the Latvian Song and Dance Festival in Toronto next summer from July 4-7th. www.latviansongfest.com We understand that it is so far away. 

The Song and Dance Festival committee has asked that we commit as a group by December 1st. Please talk it over with your families, and fill out the survey below regarding the festival and questions about returning to dance by November 26th

Atgādinājums, ierasties baznīcas drēbēs šo svētdien. Bērni uzstāsies baznīcā.

Skola in "Big Baznīca" Oct 22nd

Mācītāja Sarma has invited skola to join "big church" on October 22nd. Students, families and teachers will go to church at 11am and then after the childrens worship message will be dismissed to classes. The schedule will be a little different, however school will still start at 9:30 like normal.  You can see the tentative schedule attached.


Reminder: Please have your child wear something nice for church. They will be singing.

Allerģija:

Mums šogad ir skolēns kam ir alerģija no zemesriekstiem (peanuts). Lūdzam nesūtīt bērnus uz latviešu skolu ar Peanut Butter and Jelly maizītēm, granola bars, riekstiem, utt.


Skauti:

Tiem vecākiem kam ir bērni pāri pa 6gv. (puišiem un meitenēm) mudinām jums reģistrēties ar Boy Scouts of America Troop 440 Cleveland Latvian Association. Tā ir mūsu skautu apvienība. Latviešu Skautu Kustībā ir rekvizīti ka Latviešu skautu apvienībām ārpus Latvijas ir jāreģistrējas ar savām vietējam nacionālām organizācijām kā Boy Scouts of America.

Allergy:

We have a student this year who has a serious allergy to peanuts. Please do not send your child with anything made with or made in a facility with peanuts.


Skauti:

Those parents whose children are over 6 years old (boys and girls) we are encouraging you to register with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 440 Cleveland Latvian Association. That is our Latvian scout troop.

The Latvian Scouts Association (Latviešu Skautu Kustību) has a requirement that Latvian Scouts in foreign countries such as USA are also registered with the national organization such as BSA.

Easter Celebration:

Our Easter Celebration is happening this Sunday! Here are a few notes/requests.

1. We encourage everyone to try to make it to children's worship. Immediately following church we will begin celebrating pūpoļdiena traditions.

2. We ask that all parents come and participate with their children. Especially while coloring eggs. 

3. We will have a pizza party for everyone. So, no need to pack a lunch.

4. Please bring a bag or a bucket for your child to use during our egg hunt!

After lunch classes will resume as usual. Mazulīši students can go home after azaids.

Latvian Independence Day

The children will be performing in the Latvian Independence Day event hosted by the Cleveland Latvian Association.

The event begins at 12:30pm

Admission is $20 and includes lunch

After the children are done performing we will release them to their parents in Zaļā Zāle.


Christmas Market

Our children will be selling their own handmade items at the Annual Latvian Christmas Market on December 4th. We are looking for some parents to help them sell and collect money.

The children will have to wear their folk costumes for the Latvian Independence Day celebration in November. Please start trying on your costumes now. Boys please return any vests that no longer fit to the hallway closet located next to the Green Room so that others can try them on. If a new one is needed we will contact Ilze to see if she is able to make a new one. Girls-there are a few costumes in the women's dressing area that you can try on.


We will  be having a "picture day" of the students on the 20th in their folk costumes.


Latvian Independence Day

The children will be performing in the Latvian Independence Day event hosted by the Cleveland Latvian Association.

The event begins at 12:30pm

Admission is $20 and includes lunch

After the children are done performing we will release them to their parents in Zaļā Zāle.


Christmas Market

Our children will be selling their own handmade items at the Annual Latvian Christmas Market on December 4th. We are looking for some parents to help them sell and collect money.

Miķeļdiena and Pļaujas Svētki

This Sunday the children will be learning about Miķeļdiena and Pļaujas Svētki. Both holidays celebrate the fall harvest. Your children will be coming home with art work made with items found in nature. Please do not forget to bring these home with you. Our Ladies' Auxillary group will be hosting a Pļaujas Svētku fundraiser in the main hall. $15 includes a hot meal.

Good morning everyone!

As we are getting ready to celebrate Easter this weekend, we have been watching the weather very closely.

Unfortunately, it looks like it will be a typical Cleveland spring day....cold...rainy....and snowy.

Although we were hoping to be outside to celebrate, it looks like that won't be happening this year.


We have decided to move our celebration to Lakewood. We will meet same day and time, 

Saturday, April 9th at 1pm in the Church Hall.

Just like last year we will be celebrating Lieldienas/Easter with an event. This year it will be held at the Rešņi home in Chardon on Saturday, April 9th at 1pm. Just like last year we ask that each parent helps out. Please choose a job on the sign up genius. 


Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles are all welcome to attend! If you are inviting additional family members please let us know so we can get a headcount for food.

1. Maskas

Draudzes valde pārstrādāja vadlīnijas dievkalpojuma apmeklētājiem. To mēs pielikam pie šī epasta. Maskas vairs nav obligāti dievlūdzējiem. Tā kā skola seko draudzes vadlīnijas mēs arī to pašu lēmumu. Sākot ar 20. martu skolēniem un skolotājiem vairs nav obligāti jāvalkā maskas. 


Ņemot to vērā atgādinām sekojošos punktus. 

1. Palieciet mājās ja tu vai kāds jūsu mājā nejūtās labi. 

2. Ja jums ir bijis kontakta ar kādu kam ir COVID-19 pat ja tam cilvēkam nav neviena simptoma lūdzam neatgriezties uz Latviešu skolu līdz kamēr 5 dienas ir pagajusi pāri un jums ir negatīvo COVID-19 tests.

3. Lūdzam izrādīt cieņu pret tiem kuri izvēlas valkāt masku vai nevalkāt masku.

4. Turpiniet ievērot distanci no citiem.


Pandēmijas svārstīgo apstākļu dēļ, plāni var jebkurā laikā mainīties. 


2. Kafijas Galds

Kafijas galds ir atpakaļ! Skolas Saimniece Inga Wolf jums katru nedeļu izsūtīs e-pastu ar kafijas galdu uzdevumiem. Ja kāda iemesļu deļ jūs nevariet izpildīt lūdzām ar Ingas sarunājies. Ingas epasts ir ivwolf@outlook.com


3. Medību Diena

Šo svētdien 20. martā notiks "Medības" (Bear Hunt. No grāmata "We're going on a bear hunt" by Michael Rosen)


Mazulīšiem līdz 6. klasei ies šķēršļu gājienā. Esam pielikuši pagajušo svētdienas klases slīdes. Skolēniem būs uzdotas jautājumi par norādiem.

Dear teachers, parents, and students,


We would like to share with you some very important information. Please take some time to read through this e-mail. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at klivdraudzesskola@gmail.com 


1. Masks

The church board has sent out a very important update on the mask mandate. The school follows the guidelines set by our church. We have attached a copy of what was sent out to all congregation members. Masks are no longer required to be worn in the church. Starting on Sunday,March 20th we will no longer mandatate masks to be worn in school.


These guidelines are subject to change depending on future Covid circumstances.


Please take in to consideration the following: 

1. Remain at home if you or someone in your family is not feeling well.

2. If you have tested positive for COVID-19 or have had contact within the last 5 days with a person with COVID-19 even if you are asymptomatic please stay home. You must test negative before returning to school

3. Be respectful of those who choose to continue to wear a mask while in our building or those who chose not to wear a mask. 

4. Keep a safe distance from others.


2. Kafijas Galds

Kafijas Galds is back! You will begin to receive e-mails from Inga Wolf aka the kafijas galds lady :-) She will ask each family to bring some maizītes on specific weeks. If you cannot help out please coordinate with Inga directly. ivwolf@outlook.com


3. Bear Hunt Day

This Sunday we will be going on a Bear Hunt during each child's Latvian Language class. Also called "Medības" Inspired by the book "We're going on a bear hunt" by Michael Rosen


Mazulīši-6. klase will participate. We have attached the slides from last Sunday's classes. The children will be asked questions based on these slides.


A BIG thank you to our 8. klase who will help us run the bear hunt!

4. Lieldienas/Easter

Nogādāsim picu un citus našķus.

We ask that those who are able please donate an item or two to the Zvannieki orphanage in Latvia.


December 12th

Everyone (students, parents and teachers) are welcome to help. We will all attend children's worship and then head to the hall to help with setting up tables, stage decorations, etc. The children will be rehearsing and working on table centerpieces. We will have pizza and other snacks. This day will be shorter than our regular Latvian school days. Dismissal will be around 12pm

We are so incredibly proud of all of the children! They did an amazing job today!


It's hard to believe that in just a month we will be celebrating Christmas! We are sending you this email so that you understand everything that's going to happen. If there are any questions at all please contact either of us.


The Christmas Celebration will be Sunday, December 19th in person!

Valsts Svētku Sarikojums

Lūdzam lai bērni ved līdzi tautas tērpus. Lai būtu vieglāk skolotājiem, varat sūtīt puišus tautas tērpu biksēs un kreklos. Mēs palīdzēsim bērniem sagatavot, tātad lūdzam lai tautas tērpu daļas ir visi viegli pieejamas.


Visa skola dziedāsim dziesmu, "Tik un Tā" pie kā esam šo semestri piestrādājuši.  Vārdus izsūtīsim pa epastu, bet arī ir pieejamas uz Google Classroom. Lūdzam lai pie tām piestrādot pirms svētdienas. 


Valsts Svētku Sarikojums Dienas Kārtība

11:10am pēc azaida 8. klase uzvelk tautas tērpi un gatavo uz karogu ienešana

11:10am 5. un 6. klase uzvelk tautas tērpus  un iet atpakaļ uz klasēm

11:40am 3. un 1. klases uzvelk tautas tērpus un iet atpakaļ uz klasēm

11:50am PS un BD klases uzvelk tautas tērpus un ej atpakaļu uz klasēm

11:50am 8. klase satiekās ārpus lielā zale

12-12:30 PS-6. klase mēģinājums zaļā zālē

12-12:15 8. klase Karogu ienešana

12:30-12:45 Bērni dzied 18. nov sarikojumā

1:00pm (vai kad bērnu uzvedums ir cauri) Vecāki satiek savus bērnus zaļā zālē un vai nu brauc mājās vai iet uz sarikojumu.


*Lūdzu ievērojiet ka sarīkojumu sākuma laiks var mainīt sakarā ar to cik ilgi dievkalpojums iet.*


Zvannieku Ziedojums:

Ziemassvētkos mēs atkal plānojam ziedot mantas, drebes, etc. Zvannieku bērnu namam. Visā drīzumā saņemsiet liste. Tos vēlam lai jūs vedat līdzi uz skolas eglīte.

Skolas gada sākumā bijam pārliecināts ka skolas eglīte atkal būs virtuāli. Bet, skatoties uz decembri, domājam ka varam noturēt skolas eglīti klātienē. Ja kāds nejūtos ērti, lūdzam lai jūs ar mums sazināties tā lai varam visu izplānot.

Latvian Indepence Day Event

The kids will be singing the song, "Tik un Tā" Which we have been working on since the 1st day of school. We will be e-mailing the words to you, and you can also find the words un Google Classroom under the Tautas Dejas and Dziedāšanas class. Please have your children review the words and read through them a few times.


Please bring your child's folk costume with them that day. Parents of boys may want to consider sending their kids in their tautas deju pants and shirts to make it easier to get ready later. We will help the kids get in their tautas tērpi. Please make sure all of the folk costume parts are together to make it easier. If you would like to help your child get ready see the schedule below.


Latvian Independence Day Timeline

11:10am after lunch the 8. klase will get dressed and head up for the flag carrying

11:10am 5. un 6. klases will get dressed and return to class

11:40am 3. un 1. klases will get dressed and return to class

11:50am PS un BD klases will get dressed and return to class

11:50am 8. klase meets outside of the big hall to go over flag carrying instructions

12-12:30 PS-6. klases will rehearse in the green room

12-12:15 8. klase carry in the flags

12:30-12:45 Children sing in the Latvian Independence Day Event

1:00pm (Or whenever the kids are done) Parents meet their children in the green room and either go home or take them back up to the event.


*Please note that the starting time for the event is tentative. It all depends on when church is over.*


Zvannieku Orphanage: 

Like we did last year, we will be sending over a donation from the school to the Zvannieku orphanage in Latvia. You will all receive a list shortly once we receive it from Māc. Sarma.


Skolas Eglīte/Christmas Event

In the beginning of the school year we were pretty positive that we would be celebrating Christmas with the school virtually. Now that December is just around the corner, we are leaning towards an in person event. If you and your family do not feel comfortable celebrating in person, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can plan accordingly.

Kids should wear their full tautas terpi. We will have extra costume parts  and props for filming. 


If you have Latvian knit mittens, scarves, shawls, villaines or any other wintery Latvian accessories please bring it with you. Not a requirement at all, but helpful. (see the videos for reference)


Here are the dances we will be taping. We will be with them coaching the whole way. They do not need to memorize anything.

Thank you so much to all of you for participating in Trunk or Treat this year! Somehow you have managed to outdo the amazing decorations that you came up with last year and we were excited to see even more cars join in on the fun!


We would like recognize Tammy Hornak and Kathleen Crawford for their huge help on Sunday.

Each class will be learning about Miķeli this month. Before our Trunk or Treat celebration we will be celebrating Miķeļi. We are asking that students bring fall items (leaves, acorns, fall flowers, vegetables) with them to the October 24th class. If the weather is nice we are planning on doing the celebration in front of the church, but we do have the big hall reserved in case it isn't nice out.

We are celebrating Trunk or Treat on October 24th! Please register at the link below so we know how many cars to expect.

School Field Trip

Everyone is welcome to join us for a field trip to Derthick's Corn Maze in Mantua, OH. This will happen after school on October 10th. More information about Derthick's Corn Maze can be found on their website: www.derthickcornmaze.com Everyone will have to pay their own way.

The field trip is optional. Just a reason to have some fall fun!


October 17th Virtual School

Our first virtual day will be on October 17th. Please sign in to Google Classroom to make sure you are able to get in and see everything. If you can't please let us know before October 17th. Both Zanda and Karīna are teaching all day on the virtual day so it is hard to help troubleshoot while teaching. Please let us know before that Sunday if you have any issues.


Miķeldiena Celebration

Each class will be learning about Miķeli this month. Before our Trunk or Treat celebration we will be celebrating Miķeļi. We are asking that students bring fall items (leaves, acorns, fall flowers, vegetables) with them to the October 24th class. If the weather is nice we are planning on doing the celebration in front of the church, but we do have the big hall reserved in case it isn't nice out.


Trunk or Treat

We are celebrating Trunk or Treat on October 24th! Please register at the link below so we know how many cars to expect.

Trunk decorating is from: 1:00-1:30pm

Trunk or Treat from: 1:30-3:00pm

This year you will hand out candy from your own trunk like you would at trick or treating.


Tautas Dejas/Dziedāšana Filming

More detailed information to come, however we are planning on filming tautas dejas and singing for Latvian Independence Day and for our Christmas Event on November 5th, 6th, and 7th.

Filming will take place in parks. We are trying to make it more convenient for you so we are blocking dates and times around the county. Students will need to be in their folk costumes. We will also have other costume pieces that we will bring with us.

First Day of School:

1. Mazulīši will meet at 9am at Kaufmann Park weather permitting.

2. For everyone: The first day of school will start promptly at 9:30am. We will meet by classes outside of the church front doors for our processional with flags. 

3. After worship services children will head to the classroom and parents may go their own way.

4. Please remember to pack a snack and a water bottle for your child.

5. Preschool ends their day at 11:10am and can be met at the credit union/school entrance

6. The rest of the school will let out at 1pm and can be met at the credit union/school entrance.

Dear Families,

 

We hope you have all had a wonderful summer! 

We are slowly starting to get ready for the new school year! This year together with the church congregation we will have our school's opening day and worship service on September 19th at 11am. This will be held at Coe Lake Park in Berea, OH. No classes will be held on this date, but we will have our Parent meeting that day. This school year will be held in a hybrid schedule model. 2 weeks in person instruction and 1 week virtual instruction. We are following CDC and the Church's guidelines. More details to come during our Parent meeting on September 19th. 

This year our tuition is $50.00/each child.
